A Little More Jesus, Please

A Little More Jesus, Please

Christmas is magic for children.  As a parent of three, I hoped to continue that tradition for our children.  But the true meaning of Christmas is elusive in our commercial celebrations.  It feels these days like the celebration of the birth of the Son of God is intentionally marginalized.  I urge us to hang onto it.  This song recognizes that struggle.  May God have mercy on us all.

This song is featured in our new album, "Samaritan".

A little Road Crew commentary on "A Little More Jesus, Please".

We hope you enjoy this rendition of the song with comments from the band.  It's our attempt to provide a little insight into the writing and the musicianship in the song.

A Little More Jesus, Please was a semi-finalist in the 2023 contest.

Now listen to the song in its entirety--without interruptions.

Merry Christmas!

Lyrics

Ooh hoo, oo - ooh hoo,  ooh hoo,  ...

Christmas morn’

the presents underneath the tree.

Children trying

to be as good as they can be.

And I’m awake

as three worried hours of sleep will tease,

with nagging thought:

Just a little more Jesus, please.

Ooh hoo, oo - ooh hoo,  ooh hoo,  ...

The feast is done

Our boys in Lego® ecstasy.

We snuggle in

To watch some Disney® on TV.

The passing news, shows

an embattled mother on her knees.

Her tear stained eyes, beg

“Just a little more Jesus, please”

Ooh hoo, oo - ooh hoo,  ooh hoo,  ...

I’m not sure

how to help my children pray;

But I’m sure

it would be easy to miss

the point of Christ - mas day…

Uh Huh

Time for bed.

Our kids in matching reindeer wear.

My sleepy girl

has tinsel caught up in her hair.

I tuck her in,

‘n as she gives my neck a squeeze,

(I think) for her sake

Just a little more Jesus, please.

Ooh hoo, oo - ooh hoo,  ooh hoo,  ...
